Team & Job Overview
The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
- Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
- Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
The Architecture Owner (Senior Solutions Architect), ServiceNow Platform will be part of the Architecture Owners Chapter and assigned to the ServiceNow Platform team. This role works in collaboration with the business context and requirements and propose technical solutions that are implemented with the ServiceNow platform. The Architecture Owner (Senior Solutions Architect), ServiceNow Platform works in close collaborations with other Architecture Owners close to the business side and knowledgeable of EDC’s wide technical environment.
The Architecture Owner (Senior Solutions Architect), ServiceNow Platform technical expertise is broad and covers all aspects of the platform such as integration and data management (CSDM), IT solution design and architecture around ServiceNow, platform performance and scalability, technical leadership and collaboration with the team and with the business and technical stakeholders. Expect to be immersed in the Microsoft Azure environment, business intelligence, data visualization, operational reporting and ETL frameworks, integration, API, Portals, Content Management, ERPs, Workflow, Digital Design, Customer/User Experience, and Security.
To be successful in this role, you will have to use your design skills, analytical aptitude, and high level of communication both oral and written.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Architecture Owner, facilitating the creation, evolution of the overall solution design with respect to the ServiceNow best practices and team standards
- Develop and maintain architectural blueprints for ServiceNow implementations, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards of EDC such as the Well-Architected Framework.
- Design solutions in the core platform and the business space, such as CSM, HRSD, SecOps, and WSD
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the different teams, ensuring best practices and high-quality deliverables.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, and other architects, business analysts and third-party vendors to gather requirements and translate them into effective ServiceNow solutions.
- Oversee the configuration, customization, and maintenance of the ServiceNow platform, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, security.
- Stay updated with the latest ServiceNow features and industry trends, and proactively recommend improvements to enhance platform capabilities.
- Conducting or attending workshops for stakeholders to convert vision and value, business requirements into efficient solution designs. Frequently engage with the Enterprise Architects
- Creating and defining operating models, capability models, and technical architectural models.
- Participating in strategic planning and aligning technology initiatives with organizational goals.
- Overseeing the implementation and operationalization of end-to-end solutions.
- With the help of the Admin team and the service tower team, address architecture questions with the team to ensure consistent and sound solutioning
- Document architecture solutions using architect tools such as diagrams at multiple level of abstractions, documentation and technical presentations
- Ensures consistency in architecture and engineering approaches
Screening Criteria
- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience delivering IT solutions as a Solutions Architect
- Minimum of 5 years of applied experience on the ServiceNow platform
- Minimum 2 ServiceNow Certifications, such as Certified System Administrator (CSA), Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS), and Certified Application Developer (CAD) or any other ServiceNow certifications
- Key understanding of solutions related to a modern ecosystem: such as domain architecture, microservices, APIs, streaming, Cloud technologies, real-time dataflows, orchestration, Cloud, and DevOps

- Strong understanding of Disciplined Agile principles and the Architecture Owner role.
- Excellent analytical skills, ability to resolve problems and make decisions
- Deep technical knowledge; architecture and development patterns and practices
- Experience managing technical priorities within the backlog
- Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)
Compensation Details
- Architecture Owner 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive
Location
- Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
- This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval, Brossard, Calgary, Vancouver, or Halifax.
