Job Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Security Engineer or in a similar role.
- Experience developing and implementing secure design patterns across infrastructure and applications.
- Experience advising on secure system design and best practices for infrastructure security.
- Strong expertise in cloud security, with experience in Google Cloud, AWS, or other cloud platforms.
- Experience with security hardening for operating systems, cloud environments, and containerised applications.
- Familiarity with container security and scanning tools to identify vulnerabilities.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python and Bash.
- Experience with securing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
- Strong threat modeling skills and ability to identify security risks within complex systems.
- Understanding of cloud-native architectures and their security challenges.
- Ability to work through complex problems, analyse data, and provide solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and implement new security controls into the VALR infrastructure platform to enhance defense mechanisms.
- Assist engineers in developing secure systems by advising on best practices and secure patterns.
- Integrate secure design principles into infrastructure and application architectures.
- Manage vulnerabilities and harden Kubernetes environments by implementing security best practices.
- Work closely with engineering teams to embed security into the development lifecycle.
- Conduct security assessments and scan for vulnerabilities in systems, applications, and containers.
- Engage in proactive threat modeling to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
- Stay updated on industry trends, and provide constructive feedback on security practices to engineers, managers, and executives.
- Ensure cloud and on-premise infrastructure is secure, compliant, and resilient against evolving threats.
