Senior QA Engineer | Cypress | Development Background | Tech for Good | Fully Remote
This is the chance to work for a unique organisation! Our client is a not-for-profit that reviews/certifies companies, governments and financial institutions for their environmental impact and awareness.
They are the main global authority that certifies and monitors companies' and governments' environmental impact on the natural environment. Essentially, they provide the equivalent of the “Fair Trade” sticker that you would see on a jar of coffee, but for businesses and local governments.
The organisation is over 20 years old, headquartered in the UK with an office in central London and has 700 staff globally (100 circa in the UK). This is a fully remote role, and you can go to the office as often as you like.
You will be joining a tight-knit team of 5 and you’ll lead the charge in replacing manual testing with innovative and automated solutions.
What You’ll Need:
- Developer’s Mindset: A strong software development background is essential—hands-on coding experience and a deep understanding of building scalable, high-quality software.
- Experience: 8+ years in QA (ideally 10+), with proven expertise in automated testing.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Python
- Extensive experience with Cypress for automation testing
- Familiarity with API testing (e.g., Postman), performance testing (e.g., JMeter), and version control (Git)
- Exposure to Azure/DevOps environments is a plus
- Educational Background: A computer science degree is beneficial.
- Mindset: Detail-oriented, creative, and collaborative with excellent communication skills and a passion for mentoring.
What You’ll Do:
- Drive Automation: Architect, develop, and maintain automated test suites using tools like Cypress (ideal), along with JavaScript/TypeScript and Python.
- Establish Best Practices: Build and standardise comprehensive testing frameworks and methodologies across agile squads.
- Mentor & Collaborate: Partner with Product Owners and cross-functional teams, mentoring a junior QA engineer and instilling a developer-first testing culture.
- Innovate QA Processes: Design and refine performance testing protocols (e.g., with JMeter) and integrate early defect detection strategies.
- Champion Quality: Transform manual testing practices into robust, automated solutions that enhance product quality and streamline release cycles.
