KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, the Network Administrator is responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the City's core infrastructure equipment. This includes acquiring, configuring, deploying, and maintaining all associated equipment; developing, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures to ensure the City's core infrastructure objectives are met; and serving as a liaison with user departments to ensure that infrastructure resources are properly developed and utilized to deliver maximum benefits to the users and the City.
Qualifications
A University Degree in Computer Science or related field is required. The incumbent must also have a minimum of 5 years' experience in implementing, supporting, and maintaining critical systems in a multi-platform enterprise environment. A minimum of 5 years' experience is required in the following areas:
- virtual computer technologies
- enterprise backup solutions
- monitoring and alerting technologies
- wireless point to point network communications
- working technical knowledge of network hardware, along with working in a distributed switched and routed environment
- anti-virus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures.
The position requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2019, 2022 and associated services development, and support and the ability to use critical thinking to evaluate problems, gather information, understand causes, and identify the best possible solutions. The successful applicant will also demonstrate the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience. Hands-on technical expertise in analog and digital land mobile radio systems is considered an asset.
SALARY
The City of Yellowknife offers a starting annual salary of $116,529 along with a comprehensive benefits package, including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances combined totaling $450 per month, a defined benefit pension plan, and relocation assistance.
