We are seeking a talented Java Application Designer willing to relocate and join our Client’s team in Brussels, Belgium.
As a Java Application Designer, you will play a key role within a multi-disciplinary Scrum team that focuses on developing and enhancing applications used to manage the contracting of complex loans for professional clients. You’ll contribute to building high-quality software that provides critical customer value, solving technical challenges, and shaping the future of the main application. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain highly efficient, reusable, and reliable Java-based software applications.
- Act as a technical leader by proactively addressing technical debt, defining the application's roadmap, and ensuring continued alignment with business goals.
- Troubleshoot issues, iron out bugs, and deliver pragmatic solutions to technical challenges.
- Gather, analyze, and refine requirements to create new functionalities that are seamless and user-friendly.
- Maintain high standards of code quality, organization, and automation across development processes.
- Foster strong team collaboration by sharing your knowledge and providing feedback to help the team excel.
Your Profile:
To excel in this role, you:
- Embody Scrum values such as involvement, focus, openness, respect, and courage.
- Hold a degree in Computer Science or IT, with 5–8 years of experience working on multi-tier applications in a corporate environment.
- Have successfully taken on roles as a technical lead and/or application designer.
- Are inquisitive, proactive, and eager to provide innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- Work effectively in a team-first culture and enjoy sharing your knowledge with colleagues.
- Have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze requirements critically.
- Communicate fluently in English, with knowledge of Dutch and/or French as an added advantage.
Technical Skills:
You have strong experience with and knowledge of:
- Java and object-oriented programming (OOP).
- Software design patterns.
- Working with relational databases.
The following areas are a plus but not mandatory:
- Experience with BTT (Business Transaction Technology) and Site Factory.
- Functional knowledge of Banking and Credits.
